The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF),
the central platform for reviewing progress on the implementation of the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the global level, takes place this year on 10-19 July at UN Headquarters in New York.

The Forum will bring together member states, civil society, the private sector and other stakeholders to review the successes,   challenges and lessons learned on achieving the SDGs.

Richard Curtis, a SDG Advocate, is a screen writer and director, responsible for films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary – and leading up to the HLPF read what he has to say about the importance of the SDGs and why he regards them as the toolkit for the current and future generations.

UNDP and Government of Palau sign agreement to improve data access and analysis

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

UN MDG report 2013: Some targets met, others within reach


With the deadline for the MDGs on the horizon, progress can be reported in most areas, despite the impact of the global economic and financial crisis. Several important targets have or will be met by 2015, assuming continued commitment by national governments, the international community, civil society and the private sector. That said, progress in many areas is far from sufficient. Redoubled efforts are urgently needed, particularly in regions most behind to jumpstart advancement and achieve maximum gains. The world community should take pride in its accomplishments thus far, while building on existing momentum to reach as many goals as possible by 2015 and to realize gains for all. Continue reading
