The Secretary-General On The Attack In Spain

The Secretary-General condemns today’s terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain.

He extends his heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those killed and to the Government and people of Spain. He wishes a speedy recovery to those injured and hopes that those responsible for this heinous violence will be swiftly brought to justice.

The United Nations stands in solidarity with the Government of Spain in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

Press Conference by Security Council President on Work Programme for October

In October, the Security Council would focus on a range of issues, from the women, peace and security agenda, to the fight against terrorism, to humanitarian crises around the world, the Permanent Representative of Spain said today at a Headquarters press conference.  Among his country’s priorities for October were also the Council’s methods of work and the situation in the Middle East.
