International Day of Friendship

The resolution (A/RES/65/275) places particular emphasis on involving young people, as future leaders, in community activities that include different cultures and promote international understanding and respect for diversity.

To mark the International Day of Friendship the UN encourages governments, international organizations and civil society groups to hold events, activities and initiatives that contribute to the efforts of the international community towards promoting a dialogue among civilizations, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation.

7 Billion Others Project

On selected international days the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe, in partnership with the Good Planet Foundation, share clips from the 7 billion Others project to communicate the fears, dreams, ordeals and hopes of citizens from all over world. Video portraits from the United States, Finland, Ethiopia and China were compiled in celebration of the International Day of Friendship.
