Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on the terrorist attacks in Turkey

The Secretary-General condemns today’s terrorist attacks in Istanbul, reportedly targeting Turkish police personnel, in which dozens of people were killed and injured.

The Secretary-General expresses his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Turkey, and wishes a quick recovery to those injured. He hopes that the perpetrators of this terrorist act will be swiftly identified and brought to justice.

Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on terrorist bombing in Istanbul, Turkey

The Secretary-General condemns today’s bombing in central Istanbul, which is reported to have killed and injured dozens of people. This is the latest in a recent series of terrorist attacks in Turkey. The perpetrators of this appalling violence must be brought to justice, consistent with human rights obligations.  The Secretary-General extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of today’s attack and to the people and Government of Turkey.
